Fire and Water Restoration Checklist

If you find yourself in a situation where you need fire and water restoration,  then you have come to the right place. We thought that it might be helpful for you if you had a way to make it through the crisis that has brought on this need for fire and water restoration.

Fire and Water Restoration Checklist

1. Assess the damage. Find out how much fire and water damage you have at your residence or business. Do this by walking the premises yourself and having a professional inspector or insurance adjuster with you. It is always good to have the eye and report of a profession. They may be able to identify environmental hazards that your untrained eye wouldn’t recognized. For instance, if your property has a lot of water damage there may be mold and mildew invoked.

2. Create a scope of work. Prepare an assessment of the damages incurred and what it will take to repair these items. You could get the input from your inspector or insurance adjuster into the numbers and work that might be involved. If the place has both fire and water damage, don’t forget to include the cost of trash and waste removal to the scope of work.

3. Take Contractor Bids. You should have bids on the work by at least three separate contractors. This is done to ensure that you get the best deal for your money. These contractors can include their scopes of work along with the bid. The scope of work always makes it easy to work with someone when everyone knows what is inspected.
