Flood Damage Repair
Having flood damage repair work completed can be a real pain. You have to ensure that the work will be completed with professional workmanship, but leave enough money in your pocket to eat the rest of the month.
Let’s face it. Repairing flood damage is very expensive. These contractors are not letting the homeowner off the hook regardless if you have flood insurance or not. The cost boils down to your location. What part of the country you live in and the relative price of your housing and building materials? All of these items play a part in the cost of your flood damage repair.
Flood Damage Repair List
1. Scope of Work - Regardless of the amount of repair or construction work you need to take care of your flood damage, you need to know exactly what needs to be done. If your basement was flooded, then you need to know exactly what is going to be repaired. A finished basement that is finished with drywall and carpet water damage will cost more than a basement that is unfinished with concrete all around.
2. Time Frame – How long is the work going to take to be completed? Likely it is going to take a couple of days to fix flood damage in a basement that is finished and the drywall has to be replaced to prevent mold and mildew from spreading. Get all of this in writting from the contractors.
3. Contractors Bid - You do not want to accept the first offer that comes your way. Be sure to have at minimum of three professional contracts bid your work before you proceed. This could save you thousands of dollars by just being dilligent.
